The Second Plenary Meeting of the Tourism Development Committee 2015 held on 4th Nov 2015


    Dr. Alexis Tam Chon Weng, Secretary for Social Affairs and Culture and Chairperson of Tourism Development Committee (CDT) hosted the second CDT Plenary Meeting in the Tourism Activities Centre on 4th  Nov at 10AM. Firstly, Macao Government Tourist Office (MGTO) summarized the updated tourism development; later on AECOM, the consulting firm of “Macau Tourism Industry Development Master Plan Service Provision”, introduced the current work progress of the research, and our members put forward many constructive recommendations to AECOM as references.

 

    In the meeting, CDT members actively exchanged views and opinions with government representatives about issues such as the operation model of Hong Kong-Zhuhai-Macao Bridge, legality of on-demand limo APP ‘Uber’, coach operation, expansion of international source market, yacht FIT scheme, restaurant license, tourism carrying capacity and "One Belt, One Road", etc.

 

    Dr. Alexis Tam Chon Weng responded that Macao as an important node in the Maritime Silk Road, the Government would certainly use this unique advantage to strengthen the communication with Central Government, as well as grasping the opportunity of mutual beneficial relationships between countries and regions along the route of " One Belt, One Road " to achieve win-win outcomes.

 

    Human resource and traffic issues are another major focuses in the meeting. At this point, Dr. Alexis Tam Chon Weng agreed that both issues are critical on building Macao as a world center of tourism and leisure, and definitely affect the overall development of Macao. In the future, collaboration among Secretariat levels and relevant departments would be further strengthened, in order to optimize relevant policies and implement measures to ensure the sustainable development of Macao tourism.

 

    In the meeting, speeches were given by Liu Suning, Chan Chak Mo, Chow Kam Fai David, Kwan Yany Yan Chi, Xu Yueming, Hoi Man Pak, Wong Ian Man, Chan Weng Hong, Ieong Chi Wa, Ieong Weng Seng, Kan Man Neng, Wu Keng Kuong, Leng Sai Vai, Chan Chi Kit, Maria Helena de Senna Fernandes, Chiang Ngoc Vai, Chan Hio Ieong, Chan Un Tong.
