The First Plenary Meeting of the Tourism Development Committee 2015 held on 26th Feb 2015


   Dr. Alexis Tam Chon Weng, Secretary for Social Affairs and Culture and Chairperson of Tourism Development Committee (CDT) hosted the first CDT Plenary Meeting in the Tourism Activities Centre on 26th Feb. In the meeting, Macao Government Tourist Office (MGTO) summarized the updated tourism statistics and introduced the work schedule of “Macau Tourism Industry Development Master Plan Service Provision”. Later on, the committee members expressed comments and recommendations regarding the expansion of international tourism markets, attracting high-end tourists, enriching the elements of community-based tourism, developing two and three-stars hotels, ports expansion, diversifying tourist flows, setting up sightseeing bus tours, establishing the museum of tourism history, declaring the UNESCO - Creative Cities Network, City of Gastronomy.  They also showed concerns to unsolved issues like shortage of human resources, shortage of coach parking spaces, road traffic and tourism-related administrative procedures.

 

    Dr. Alexis Tam Chon Weng responded that the Government has a comprehensive grasp of the raised issues and agreed on the views of improving the environment and tourism products. In the future, the government will further optimize the structure of tourist, tourism products and the overall environment of Macao, as well as striving to develop a livable Macao with abundant cultural elements and events, and speeding up the construction of “World Centre of Tourism and Leisure”.
