The First Plenary Meeting of the Tourism Development Committee 2014 held on 29th May 2014


    Cheong U, Secretary for Social Affairs and Culture and Chairperson of CDT hosted the first CDT Plenary Meeting in the Tourism Activities Centre on 29th May. In the Meeting, Maria Helena de Senna Fernandes, Director of Macau Government Tourist Office, summarized the updated tourism statistics in the 1st quarter of 2014. She also introduced the activities and promotional campaigns which were recommended to be carried out for the 15th Macau SAR Anniversary. Finally, Wong Mei Cheng, Secretary General of CDT, gave a brief introduction of the CDT field trip in Korea held in April.

 

    In the meeting, a survey of “Optimizing the climate of tourism” was introduced. Cheong U stated that CDT is an essential advisory committee in terms of tourism development, in which CDT members are in fact at the forefront of operations, and so might have a more in-depth experience and inspiration. Thus, he hoped to gather opinions from the members as a tourism feasibility study.

 

    Before the meeting ended, the committee members expressed comments and recommendations regarding the future plan of tourism development, human resources and customs affairs. Speeches were given by Chow Kam Fai David, Kwan Yany Yan Chi, Ieong Chi Wa, Wong Ian Man, Ieong Weng Seng, Kan Man Neng, Wu Keng Kuong, Hoi Man Pak, and Pun Su Peng.
