The First Plenary Meeting of the Tourism Development Committee 2013 held on 5th June 2013


    Cheong U, Secretary for Social Affairs and Culture and Chairperson of CDT hosted the First CDT Plenary Meeting in the Tourism Activities Centre on 5th June. In the Meeting, Chu Miu Lai, Deputy Coordinator of Macau Grand Prix Committee, introduced the race program, celebrating activities and publicity of the “60th Macau Grand Prix”. Then, Maria Helena de Senna Fernandes, Director of Macau Government Tourist Office, summarized the data of the updated number of visitors, the hotel occupancy rate, the convention and exhibition industry, tourist consumption and the tourist satisfaction level. She also introduced the activities and promotional campaigns which would be carried out in the second half and early next year. Finally, Wong Mei Cheng, Secretary General of CDT, introduced the department website (www.cdt.gov.mo).

 

    Cheong U stated that the Macau Grand Prix had turned into a representative tourism brand of Macau, the government would achieve a successful two-week automobile race activity and communicate with sub-departments and schools to minimize public inconvenience. In addition, Cheong U mentioned that a research of tourist signage system enhancement is begun in order to construct a more desirable walking tour route and tourist flow in Macau.

 

    Before the meeting ended, the committee members expressed comments and recommendations regarding tourism industry and Grand Prix Anniversary matters and meanwhile interacted with the government representatives. Speeches were given by Chow Kam Fai, Chan Chi Kit, Hoi Man Pak, Guan Dehui, Chan Chak Mo, Vong Io Kao, Kan Man Neng, Ieong Chi Wa, Wong Ian Man, Chan Peng Fai and Chiang Ngoc Vai, etc.
